Bib Pick up: you had several opportunities to pick up prior to race day, at the YMCA and at the RFYL store. I went to the store and was in and out in 5 minutes. The shirt was super soft, and we got some samples as well. The bib had a spot for you to personalize it with your name.
They had an expo set up inside on race morning but I wasn't paying attention to it. my Run club was there and we were all hanging out and taking group pics.
The race started on time. The support car passed me before mile 1 and I was a full minute ahead of the maximum pace which frustrated me. I passed it by mile 2 and never saw it again.
There was a DJ every couple miles, and also water stations every couple miles, with water and Powerade and some very enthusiastic volunteers considering how cold it was!
The course was very hilly. The scenery was beautiful between Charlotte, running past Panther Stadium, and through parks and schools, and some very beautiful neighborhoods. The police were at every turn and I never worried about getting lost.
The course was a little long, about 13.3 miles total. When I got to the finish, they were taking it down even though I still had 6 minutes before the 3 hour cutoff. 10 people finished behind me and I'm sad for them, because the finish line was most likely gone completely.
There was no food or drink. They had packed it all up. A local juice company was there, and they gave me a lemonade and an orange juice. my friend snagged me a Kind bar when she noticed that they were packing things away.
I am frustrated that tho he were packed up before the time limit expired. otherwise it was a great race.
