Donna Stefanick's thoughts:

Previously, I knew several runners who had run this race and they all raved about it so I finally signed up for the 2023 race. Now I see what the hype is about. It's well-organized, from packet pickup at the expo, to the course and all of the volunteers, to the finish and party afterwards. Everything is well-planned to minimize headache and maximize the experience for the runner. Since it is a large race, it does get crowded at times on the course, but there are waves to help alleviate this so it's not too bad. The course is scenic and I would say a bit challenging with some moderate but short hills. The aid stations were awesome with plenty of volunteers handing out water, Nuun, junk food like gummy bears and even beer. I enjoyed the music along the course and especially all of the spectators. I've never ran a race with so much crowd support, I guess this is why it's called the friendliest race. I personally loved the downhill finish and didn't find it too steep but some friends of mine said they thought it was too steep. I say, don't change a thing. It's perfect just like it is! The blanket and hat at the finish were a nice perk along with the hefty medal. The pizza and beer were just icing on the cake at the finish.
