I love the Hyde Park Blast! First off, it's a non-profit race which donates more than $40M every year to The Cure Starts Now which focuses on pediatric brain cancer. You get a nice tech Brook shirt and a finishers "gift" instead of just another medal. Free beer and breakfast at the block party after the morning 4 mile run through Hyde Park. Top 50 Men and Women overall get SWEET Brooks jackets/pull-overs. The Kids race is a big hit as well. And that's just the beginning.....Criterium Cycle races all afternoon into the evening, a Block party which goes until midnight, and an Elite 5K run on the Bike course in the evening. There's something for everyone, and all of the proceeds go to a fantastic cause - helping to cure cancer! Two thumbs up!

I feel like the city of Duluth really appreciates the runners and the financial impact they bring to the city over the weekend. The flat point to point course is supposedly breathtaking, but it was so foggy in 2013 that you could barely see the lake. That being said, the foggy weather made it cool and near perfect for running. Love the small town, breweries, food and friendliness of all of the locals. It reminds me a bit like Boston - being bused out to a parking lot 26 miles away where everyone waits to start. And with a number of Elites there annually, it has a cool pro feel.
