This is the premier running event in the Memphis, TN area. The course takes runners through the campus of St. Jude where patients cheer you on. You also run on world famous Beale St., pass Sun Studios, and finish on the warning track on Autozone Park. The course is mostly flat, but there is a hill to contend with towards the end of the course. Race shirts tend to run small, so size up if you like a roomier shirt. Race medals are very nice, even it they are not award winning. But the greatest aspect of this race is that it is a major fundraiser for the children of St. Jude. I have registered for this race three times (2011, 2012, 2013), running as a St. Jude Hero each time. Weather can be very unpredictable for this event. 2011 it was cold at the start, 2012 it was unseasonably warm, and 2013 was canceled due to ice and cold.

This was my first half marathon, and honestly, I judge all other events by this event. It was very cold at the start, but warmed up as the day progressed. Shirts run small, and you are cheered along by patients of St. Jude Children's Hospital. Run as a St. Jude Hero to raise money for these patients and give something back.
