NYC being a world major and one of the biggest marathons of them all, there is definitely a big expectation for it. The year of 2022 NYC marathon, it happened to be quite hot and it was definitely rough overall in terms of how we all felt, but the marathon is definitely one of kind with respect to the crowd! They are literally the reason why it is one of my fav marathon of all times! I do advise people to truly enjoy this marathon! If you are going to be racing it, please do your research on the elevation profiles (as it is one of the tougher courses) and it will be difficult if you go into it not prepared for the hills on the course!

Highly recommend for anyone looking to have lots of fun! I would add this as a bucket list marathon for someone planning on doing only one in their lifetime :P

Overall, I was very impressed at the Hot Chocolate 15km Detroit race that happened on April 16th, 2022. It was a great run that fit in my marathon training (like many that I ran with). It was a nice flat course with one slight hill around the bridge area, but overall about 108ft of elevation gain which is negligible in my opinion :)

The jackets that we got as SWAG and the medal are really awesome quality! The aid stations were more than enough and enough volunteers were out there for the participants we had for the race.

One point to mention, the expo wasn't really an expo, but just a bib packet pick up, and they were in tents outside which was actually really nice because it was held at the same spot as where you'd be going for the race start line. Parking/access wasn't too bad with the suggestion for the race management to use something like spot hero to secure a spot so you can be stress-free on race day and that worked out really well for me and had about a 7min walk to the parking lot from the finish line which was a nice cool down.

The only thing I would like to mention for my vegan diet folks, as the name suggests, the post race meal and snacks are great but everything pretty much had dairy in it, so I had to be satisfied with a banana and water! But for those who don't have that restriction, everyone seemed to really enjoy the hot chocolate, and other snacks that they got.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this race to anyone looking for a fun 15km or 5km race distance around downtown detroit and with a pretty good crowd and a nice route through bell isle!

Overall, this was a great marathon experience, and it was my attempt for a BQ this year. I trained really well and went all out during the winter putting in roughly 100miles/week and felt great going in. However, we had an unfortunate weather condition on race day and it happened to be really HOT and that was unexpected for an April marathon.

It's nothing we can do, and the race itself was very well organized and the weather aspect was communicated and enough warnings were given prior to coming at the start line. Because of the weather conditions, I didn't get my BQ, but I still got a PR by 14mins and 7seconds! It was a win!

Overall, a very well organized event, and had no complaints about the race at all. Coming from Michigan to do the race, it was very straightforward and I highly recommend this race if you're looking for a close race to get your BQ!

Highly recommend!

Detroit Marathon is always a well organized event and they are very thoughtful to all the participants. I had one experience prior to this race and it was last year during covid and they are VERY flexible and provided many different options for the participants that were not able to run, run virtually, move it to the following year or two years and etc. Sharing this to let you know, don't worry about Covid, if anything happens, this race is what you want to be signed up for because they'll take care of you! Overall experience of the 2021 race was amazing, and loved every part of it! Highly recommend it! Just know that if you're looking for a beautiful scenery, maybe this race is not for you, there was only ONE part that I loved and it was the route taking us on Bell Isle (really windy there, but definitely worth the view).

This was a great half marathon experience, and it was my first time racing a half marathon distance. I went from doing the 2018 Chicago marathon and finishing it and saying "I'm never doing that again" and so the following year this was the marathon I signed up for with new goals. Disclaimer, I am Canadian and Niagara Falls is actually my home town (my parents still live there)! I love everything about Niagara Falls but mainly the fact that its a tourist town and we have one of the wonders of the world in our backyard! You basically finish right by the horseshoe Canadian fall (where if you don't know how it usually is, it's always nice and misty there)! It's the best feeling ever, because no matter how HOT it is, it'll always be nice and cool in that area! Very well organized event, lots of cheers from strangers and tourists and your family/friends of course, and they do a bunch of different distance races, so you will actually see a lot of people on the course on the day of the race. There were even some doing ultras (50km/100km)! This is a great race if you want to visit the canadian side falls and have a race as well in october! :)
