This race was super convenient. I stayed at the Provo Marriott which is next door to the expo and one block from the bus ride to the starting line. This hotel is also less than a block from the finish, so showering after the race was super easy. The city of Provo is only about 100,000 people, so this is not a super busy town which makes it easy to navigate, and the people are very friendly from the volunteers along with all the service staff at the restaurants. Random people along the streets waive as you drive by and it is a place that is unbelievably friendly. All of this makes for a great running experience as you run down the gentle downhill canyon you have spectators that you feel like they are genuinely glad you came to their community. The airport you will want to use is SLC International. I tried to book a flight to Provo, but it looks like they only have Allegiant fly into Provo with very limited flight selections. The drive from SLC airport to Provo was only about a 45 minute drive, and the traffic was not too crazy. The race course is super gentle downhill. I found this to be a pleasant aid to my speed without beating up my quads. I also was pleasantly surprised that the entire time we were running down the canyon there was a nice tail wind. The had aid stations every 2 miles, and plenty of potties. There were cowbells bringing us into the finish, and they had this cool PR Gong set up where there was a huge line of people waiting to hit the gong after setting their PR. I did not quite get my PR, but I am a bit older than my prime now, so that is understandable. I was surprised to see just how many people were getting their PR though. It makes sense with the downhill and the tail wind, but still. The finish had tons of food from chocolate milk, Creamies popsicles, Jamba Juice, Cinnabon, Nuun Sports drink, water, Grilled turkey, oranges, bananas, and probably a bunch of other stuff I have forgotten. One thing I really liked on the course was the mist tunnels to cool us off, and the otterpops that they handed out on course. The temps were mild, and they start at 6am to beat the heat, but you still are grateful for otterpops and mist tunnels near the end of their route.
