I have visired most of New York due to races. The Queens 10k brought me to Queens. The course is for the most part flat so it gives you a chance to keep a pretty solid pace. It is visually pleasing which is the only real down side i had to this race. Racers stopping often.. in the middle of the course, to take pictures. I understand wanting to capture the moment but i wish there were more volunteers around to guide those wanting to take pics to move off the course. Other than that..i loved this course and can't wait to run it again. 2021?

I was very excited to be back in my hometown to run this race. This was my 1st half of the year and only 2nd ever. I received my race packet by mail and was very happy with the longsleeve tech shirts with quarter zip. I think that was probably where my excitement ends. No real organization when i arrived. Announcements were muffled. Very long lines for the "bathrooms".. by the time i got my turn it was 30 seconds til my coral start.. which was a bit unorganized as well.. so many people were lost on where to go. The race starts.. and i honestly didn't think the course was bad..pretty flat but i liked the scenery. The aid stations seemed to be spaced out at random though. The worst thing about this race was.... WHERE WERE ALL THE PEOPLE? I really expected and actually thrive on those onlookers to move me along.. heck..i barely new i was at the finish because there was still very few people. I think they were all just huddled by the after event and forgot about the runners. Where's the love Chicago?

I had only run 5k races and the mini 10k in Central Park prior to running the Shape Women's Half. I had just run the Chi-town half in Chicago the weekend before, which was very flat. Running this race was a LOT more difficult with the many hills throughout the race but it was so empowering being amongst so many female runners who all have the same goal. Running in Central Park is so pleasing on the eyes which definitely helps you forget about the next round of hills you will encounter. This race is challenging yet very satisfying as you run through that finish line.
