This was my first time running the Monumental Half, and I hope it won't be my last time. The course itself was very flat, with a nice dose of downhills, too. 3-Stars at the aid stations...they were well maintained, but I don't like Nuun, which was the only electrolyte offered. I tend to carry my own, though, for this very reason. I should mention that I pushed a 16yo girl in a wheelchair. My friend and I were. running on behalf of MyTeam Triumph. At first, they put us in the regular corrals, which is a huge safety issue, but after speaking with the team at the expo, they promptly switched us to the early start with the rest of the wheels. From there, it was smooth sailing! Great crowd support, great finish line. Highly recommend, especially if you're looking for an "easy" race.

I've not done the full, but have done the full as a relay, and have also participated in the half marathon (at which I PRd). This is a decent course that takes you through some great parklands. Quiet and enjoyable, despite the long out and back in the middle. The race director is excellent, communicating non-stop with all participates long before and after the race. He'll even shake your hand at the finish line. Just a really well-run (ha) race. Highly recommend.

What's not to love about a race in Chicago? And for a first time marathoner, I think this is one excellent choice. Chicago sure does know how to turn a marathon into a party. If you can get in, you won't regret the fees. The whole experience is completely worth it. If this is the only marathon I ever run, I won't regret choosing Chicago.

Oh, how wonderful this experience was! I ran the 10K as well to complete the Fairytale Challenge. I mean, you really can't beat running through the most magical place on earth, especially when the adventure takes you behind the scenes of Walt Disney World! Don't let the early start times deter you, it's worth it. And yes, people dress up...the costumes are so fun, and definitely add to the experience. As for the race itself, the route is completely doable. And made even easier by the incredible scenery (and characters throughout). Add a RunDisney race to your bucket list, you must!
