This was my first half marathon, which I actually registered for on a whim two and a half days prior to the event. Although I was used to running, the further race I had ever participated in was a 10K and the furthest I had ever run before was 14km a few years prior to this race. I completed the race with an official chip time of 2:09:37.

The course is absolutely stunning. It starts in the heart of Oak Bay, leading runners through its historic residential area, and rewarding them with gorgeous ocean views. The day was sunny and beautiful and, thanks to being near the waterfront, not too hot.

My first half marathon experience could not have been better. The course was perfect, the day was perfect, and the event well organized. To date, it's still my favourite race route.
