This was my 1st attempt at running the Marine Corps Marathon (45th anniversary at that!). Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic it was moved to a fully virtual experience.

Despite being virtual, the MCM staff presented the race in such a perfect execution that runners felt completely happy with their experience. Offering virtual rewards, a special 45th anniversary medal forged with black sands from the Iwo Jima Island itself, and a drive-thru for packet pick-up.

Some runners took to the original course itself, others chose to pave their own path.

The MCM staff was extremely communicative in their social media presence encouraging runners across the world to push themselves to their first marathon experience.
