Expo was in a ballroom in Charlotte Convention Center with a number of vendor booths. Pickup was quick as I went after the lunch hour. There was indication in communication that only a given participant can pickup their own bib, but it was relaxed for 5K participants and any relay team member could pickup for the entire team.
The course is beautiful albeit with rolling hills but somehow I feel it doesn't slow one's pace. It winds through downtown Charlotte, Myers Park, Dilworth, NODA, Plaza Midwood and Elizabeth neighborhoods. I ran last two legs of Marathon Relay (Mile 15 - 26.2), nice scenery and it went at a fast pace for me. Weather was chilly ( 32F ) and very windy ( 18MPH winds) on race day. Aid stations had water & Gatorade but only one or maybe two had any nutrition, a surprise considering it is was late miles of a full marathon.
Relay transition points had ample parking and easily accessible, first transition is bit chaotic because of its early arrival and general location (at a turnaround).
Food after the race was a bit of a downer - bananas, cereal bars, water and Gatorade. No hot food option or maybe it was gone by then, around 4hrs mark.
Overall a decent race and had a great time with my team & would do the relay option again.
