This race isn't about the swag or the expo, it's just the race. Still-it's worth it. The views are stunning-and I am not someone who usually care about views. Be sure you understand the bus and pick up situation as the start times and locations for all the different races are at various times/locations.
The course it's self is situated in such a way that the first mile is just around the parking lot, then uphill the first half, and downhill the second half. As difficult as the incline is (and I did find it difficult), the second half feels like flying-it's incredible.

This was my first half, and it was a pretty fun run! It was a great way to keep motivated in the winter. The course is along the lake, so that keeps the scenery interesting. Of course, the rain/snow/cold can make the conditions brutal, but that also makes it a fun experience. The pre-race is located inside Solders Field so you don't freeze waiting to start. It's pretty crowded so don't wait till the last minute for a final bathroom visit!
