Ran this race in both 2019 and 2018. It is during the height of summer so prepare for it to be hot and humid! Both times I ran it for my 9+1 qualifiers and 2019 it counts towards the 4 of 6 for the united half so it sells out quick. For those who have run CP many times it's the 6 mile loop plus an additional 1. Nothing too out of the norm besides slightly odd distance for a race. You get your usual top quality NYRR race management and staggered starts. This year there was fun Ghostbusters photo opportunity post race. The echo-1 was the lead vehicle for the race which was also fun.

Being born and raised in Queens I am a little biased but this is a fun race. The course is fairly flat and so you can get a good PR here. For those who haven't ran flushing meadows park you get to run around the unisphere and see Citi field. Parking is a bit difficult but getting here via the 7 line is easy. Swag is usually a singlet. There's no real expo or huge post race event but you do get a finisher medal and counts towards the 4 of 6 for the united half guaranteed entry.

I really enjoyed this half marathon. It's one of the largest half's in terms of entries. The course this year started in prospect Park which is hilly but as soon as you exit the second half of the race is a straight shot down ocean belt parkway to Coney Island so you can run it for a PR. The expo is pretty fun and the post race at Coney Island is also great. Overall a fun and popular race.
