This race had both a 5K and 10K option. It was held in Plant City Florida which is the Winter strawberry capital of the world and obviously it was a strawberry themed race. That being said I was a little bit disappointed with the location. It was not on the strawberry festival grounds or even in a strawberry field or at the farm of one of the sponsors of the race...it was really just in a neighborhood. I am at least really glad that I chose the 10K because that had a more scenic route. We got to go around a Lake and through a forest on paved paths. It seemed much nicer than the 5K. As promised there were fresh strawberries at the finish line, they had placed 3 (or 4 depending on the size) on a napkin that you could easily grab, in addition there were bananas, water bottles and full sized Gatorade bottles which I can appreciate.
My biggest complaint was with the medals. They had advertised on social media a really cool die-cut medal design with a colorful ribbon and what we got was not that. It's clear to me that there was some kind of problem at the last minute and they had to scramble to find something different. What we got was a plain, round silver medal with a kind of sticker with the logo on the front and a plain Black ribbon. This is not what was advertised and it was certainly much less and acheaper quality/design. Even worse, I commented on one of their social media posts about the discrepancy with the medals and they didn't give any response. There was no explanation to any of their participants which kind of annoys me. If you're going to make a change like that after people have already paid with a certain expectation, I would appreciate some kind of recognition and an apology.
At the end of the day this race became nothing special. The medal was not great, the course was just ok and the whole strawberry thing was a very limited concept in both location and swag. I would not do this race again.

Loved this race, totally recommend! 1st of all it was through orange groves at the Showcase of Citrus so it had very nice scenery. The difficulty was actually just right, sometimes we were on sand and sometimes on grass.. It wasn't terribly hard. The race organizers did a great job in making this unique. Instead of the usual T-shirt swag they did custom pint glasses and the medal was actually made of bamboo. You definitely got a lot for your money. Your race entry got you either a small beer or a non alcoholic option, Orange slushy. We also got a free monster truck ride at the venue which is normally $25. There wasn't that many people maybe a few 100, so parking was easy.

This was definitely a small hometown race in Vero Beach Florida; maybe 100-125 people, however it was a bit of a rainy day so that might have played into the turnout. The theme of this race is awesome and it meant free bagels and cream cheese courtesy of Brooklyn water bagel at the end, as well as water and some fresh Florida Orange juice from a local Grove. As far as swag goes, I personally would have paid an additional $5 if it meant I could get a medal. They only had medals for winners in the various age categories, which were very nice. I will say that the T shirt was a nice quality and fit true to size. I can also appreciate that every participant received a raffle ticket for 3 gift bags. The other positive is that parking was very convenient right at a state park with beach access. This also meant covered areas with picnic tables for registration and for the food as well as real bathrooms!! They did have a miss with the course itself. I imagine it was easier this way, but we just went through the nearby neighborhood. If you're going to be that close to the beach where it was just a simple walk across the wooden boardwalk to the Sand why not make it a beach race? I still recommend it.
