This year was my fourth and final
year running the aurora bay care spooky sprint . I love any excuse to run in a costume as I love Halloween. I love seeing all the families in all the different levels of runners having a good time together. This year I happen to have my first do not finish of any event. I was having some pretty severe leg pain and decided a little under a mile in that I wasn’t going to finish -I was not able to find anyway to return to the start so I started walking back. Unfortunately several volunteers saw and no one offered to help. I limped my butt back to the finish line and waited for my friends to cross. On the plus side , One of my friends made her 5K PR and placed in her age group. there was a really nice celebration for her at their award ceremony. They also do you have out free passes for their kids trick or treating event , sweet street, for With your race entry ,making it truelly for the whole family.

I had a fantastic time. This was my third year running this. Every year it just gets better with great support plenty of aid stations and the friendliest runners around. It’s always on a really hot day but they take care of you with free massages and a watermelon station and an ice bath if needed .Definitely get a great bang for your buck when you run for hours and not necessarily distance. You can choose between 6, 8 or 15 hours. I really liked getting the buff instead of a hat this year.

I signed up for this race not really knowing anything about it. When I got there I was welcomed by nice people in a casual easy-going atmosphere. I set off into the woods and quickly was unsure if I was actually on the course. As soon as I felt like I was really lost, id discover a race volunteer to point me in the right direction. It happened to rain most of the day this year which made it more interesting. The terrain was varied front prairie , to climbing stairs. My most memorable moment during this race was when I was unsure if I was on the course, and I was trying to run down a hill that was a very steep and my friend was clinging to a tree trying not to slide down the grass in the rain, when two guys went flying past us at full speed down the embankment. Whenever I’m having a tough time in a race I am embrace the memory of their craziness .I ran the 25K, and they also offer a 50 K . The food afterward is amazing -I got a little
hand fired pizza made right there for me. the medal is my favorite medal of all! It’s carved out of wood .
