I've run this race at least 5 times. It's runs along a beautiful course on Sanibel Island. The entire race is tree-lined, and you get to see lots of this lovely little island. Part of the course goes over packed shell (miles 4-5.5) but the majority is on the road. There's not much shade, but that's the only flaw. The race is well-supported, has custom awards each year, finishers medals for all runners, and breakfast post-race. Plus, it supports a good cause. I highly recommend!

I've run this half and full multiple times! The full marathon course has a few quiet miles once it splits from the half, as the majority of racers run the half for this race. However, the aid support is AMAZING all the way along and the course is straight and flat, so it's easy to navigate. The biggest downside of this race is the weather - the last 4 or 5 miles are unprotected along the beach, so if it's windy or sunny (as it was when I did the full in 2017) it can be a pretty challenging finish. February in Florida never promises to be chilly, so prepare for a hot, sunny race. That said, the majority of the course is lovely, running along the water and though a nature preserve. I highly recommend!

This was my first full marathon and it was exactly what I wanted! The course is mostly flat (although if you train in south Florida, there are some rolling hills that will be bigger than what you probably train on) and the view of the water is gorgeous the entire time. I also enjoyed looking at the gorgeous houses along the route. The race does get bottle-necked at the start (there aren't staggered waves based on times) and on the north end (first half), which is an inconvenience but not a deal-breaker. This is a well-organized race with a gorgeous medal, a great post-race celebration, and beautiful views!
