I originally signed up for this race because a friend told me it's the race that you "get all the stuff" which I mean, a free sweatshirt and chocolate - yes please! I live about an hour and a half away so I decided to go a day before to grab some dinner, hit the expo, and get some good rest before the race. The race starts at 8, which is so nice because I'm so used to crazy early running mornings. Parking at this race can be tricky and they actually tell you not to even try, so we took an Uber. The race is pretty well organized, they have a DJ and some booths to really get you in the spirit before the race stars. You walk through the Palace of Fine Arts to get to the start line and then begin your race all through the park, running to the beach and back again. I almost didn't need my headphones because everything around you is so beautiful. So now what you're waiting for - the snacks - Mile 2 is chocolate, Mile 4 is a marshmallow, Mile 6 is more chocolate and Mile 8 was m&m's. I like the theme and the after party was so fun for pictures as well! When you end the race you just a big mug full of chocolate fondue, candy, graham crackers, and rice Krispy treats. It's defiantly worth the money and the weekend stay!

The 5k is awesome! I was fortunate to be in the A corral so I got to start right as the fairy godmother does the countdown. The first mile or so is in the back lot of Epcot until you enter world showcase. Because I was in the first group to go, there weren't any lines to take pictures so I really got to take my time. I wore some fairy wings with lights attached which seemed to be a huge hit so next time I do a Disney 5k, I'll defiantly be wearing lights again! There's only 1 water stop, but that's all you need. The race is untimed so no need to feel pressure if this is your first big race. Kids 5 and up are allowed to participate so you see a lot of families running together, which is really sweet!

What can I say?! What more could you want other than 4 parks of magical miles and running through a princess castle? This race was a dream of mine ever since I started running in 2012. It was all I thought about during my training runs! From the music to the people, every step you take is unforgettable. I often joke that Disney has ruined running in any other place for me. The weather is unpredictable because, Florida, but just be sure to pack for rain or heat. The year I did the Dopey Challenge (all 4 days) it was FREEZING! bring throw away clothes! The race support is outstanding and the medical tents have everything you could need!

I've done this race a few times over the years mostly because the weather is always perfect and it's a great way to get myself a Proof of Time for the Disney full marathon. It's a very easy course, not overly crowded and a local favorite. A lot of my friends run this as well, so the after festivities are fun as well. You get a t shirt and a cowbell medal, so you can hear all the runners for blocks and blocks.

I'm writing this review after almost 2 years of the Disneyland races being cut. I am still so sad! There's something so special about running in Disneyland that just doesn't compare. I first did this race as my first runDisney in 2013, so I think that's why this particular one has always been my favorite. The expo is always full of anything to break your wallet from shoes, clothes, running snacks, headbands, garmins - you name it! You spend about the first 6 miles going through Disneyland and California Adventures and then the second half is running through Anaheim. I know you think I might say the best part is the castle, but actually it's not. The BEST, most touching and emotional mile is 9 where the Red Hat Ladies are lining the streets cheering, high fiving and giving hugs. I cry every single time. If this race ever comes back, I will have my credit card ready!
