This was by far the most fun I have had at a race in a long time. The weather was absolutely perfect for running and it showed with my time. This race had all of the same things that you come to expect from a Rock n Roll Race. But the thing that makes this one so much fun, is the way the entire community embraces the race. The highlight of the race for me is running through Normal Heights. Everyone is on front of ther houses cheering the runners on. Lots of people have treats and there is even a bar to get some additional fuel.
The course does off some nice challenging hills, and finises with a nice downhill into downtown San Diego. There are several options to get to the start of the course. This year we were smart and used Bird scooters to zip over to the start at Balboa Park.
The one negative this year was a delivery mishap that the caused event shirts not to be available at the Expo. This meant having to wait in a long line after the race to get it.
I am already looking forward to my return trip next year.

Love this race as it is a local race and lots of fun. However have there is room for improvement. Since I run the 5k Saturday morning with my family, this means that we all have to go to the expo on Friday night afterwork. Getting to the convention center on a Friday after work, is not an easy task. They should allow family members to pick up bibs, allow 5k pick up at the race or extend the expo hours on Friday night.

It doesn't get much better than running the strip at night. This has turned into an annual affair for my friends and I and we have a blast every year. But something needs to change with the start and corrals as it changes every year. This year they broke the corrals into three groups. Unless you were in the first group, you never got into a corral. Instead you were just in one long line, and just started whenever you got to the front. So that meant a lot of walkers and dodging people once you did get started.
I will be back as it is a blast, but I sure hope that they can get the start fixed.
