I was asked to be a pacer for this half marathon. I never heard of it until I was asked. I am glad I took the opportunity to pace it. It was a great run with a small town feel.
This event is a smaller one, and probably the smallest one I've been involved with. I think thats the reason I loved it. The course was wonderful and pretty flat. This would be a great first time Half Marathon.
The director is very passionate about running, and very organized. I was impressed with her, and will most definitely work with her again.
Aid stations were great, and motivating. The expo was small, but still did a wonderful job!

This will be short as I learn more about writing reviews.
Overall this was a great event! The course was great even though the race started with rain, then turned into a downpour. Course was well marked and challenging at points. Mostly due to all the rain creating huge pools of water and mud. Looking back that just made the race better.
Parking wasn’t great. It’s held in a state park. Huntsville State Park to be exact. Nonetheless you’ll find parking though.
Aid stations were great! Helpful volunteers that you could tell had a passion for running themselves. They really understood the emotions you go through in 50 miles and knew how to react to make you feel better.
Swag was pretty limited, but the medal was gorgeous!! And heavy too!
I ran this event with my best friend, and she loved every minute of it. She ran it the previous year too. To make it even a better experience she PR’d this year by almost 2 hours over last year. That even with the rain and mud!
If you’re looking for a fun 50 miler I do highly recommend Rocky Raccoon 50 Miler.

This was the most difficult Ironman I've competed in. Elevation is serious, technical bike course, and rough roads. The swim was great, and thought it was a very smooth transition from the Mass Swim start they've done until 2016. For it being the first year of the new swim start they did great.

The bike course was difficult. It's by no means impossible obviously, but it will challenge you. If you didn't train it'll show on this course. It seemed like there was a sharp turn at the bottom of every hill, and then you turned right on to another hill. The roads were pretty bad in some areas. This seems to be the common complaint about all Wisconsin races though. Racine 70.3, Madison 70.3, and Ironman Wisconsin all had rough roads. Be prepared for that. Seeing the farm land, and scenery on the bike course was amazing. The spectators on Barlow were awesome. More on them later.

The run was great. Some areas I think were a little confusing for the people there watching you though. Not a deal breaker by any means though. Running the stadium was a cool feeling, and getting to run on some gravel for a small section was a nice relief.

The spectators were just AWESOME! The only event I've ever done with spectators like Wisconsin was the Twin Cities Marathon. Even though they were great as well, they had nothing on Wisconsin. I just can't express in words how great they were.

Volunteers are in the same boat as the spectators. No one can even compare. The community that gets involved with this event is wonderful. Very welcoming and very supportive.
