T-shirt/swag is pretty standard. They do provide you largely with a "e-swag bag" with coupon that have been emailed to you for a lot of things.
Aid stations are like 2 block long, they're GREAT at telling you who has water vs Gatorade. They have fruit at the stops toward the end (cut up oranges and strawberries so you can just shove it in your mouth, you don't have to worry about the stems on the strawberry). They have sponges in ice water at some of the stops that feels so good!
Course scenery - run straight along Lake Superior the whole time. You have some trees/forests (good shade!), you run over a few rivers that have small waterfalls, and you can see the finish line from something like mile 10! (it's the Ariel lift bridge in Duluth)
Expo is big, but I haven't been to too many other marathon expos to compare, but it has tons of great stuff/resources. You can buy additional race swag at the expo.
Course is almost all down-hill. There is one major "up hill" that people talk about and call "Lemon Drop Hill", personally I didn't find that as difficult as the strong downhill that followed it because your quads are being beaten up going a rolling downhill the whole time.
Parking is a bit difficult, but the city does great at ensuring there is access for all participant and spectators. This race doubles the size of the town, so is a big change. There are busses and a TRAIN for participant to take to the marathon start. Busses leave from various points around town, train leaves from downtown. Some busses leave from the neighboring town of Superior, WI as well. Do NOT plan to drive yourself to the start, it won't happen with the race being a point-to-point and taking up the main road, you won't have much access to the start.
I have run this race multiple times now and it is so well managed! The finish line is very well organized to help you find family afterwards, and the entire course is very fun and energetic. You do run a decent amount where there aren't spectators because of access to the road, but once you start getting into town around mile 16-20 of the marathon, it is non-stop crowds! The race is big enough you will never be running alone, lots and lots of people around you at all times.
