Very good race! I stayed in Northern Virginia and used public transit to go to the expo. It was an average expo, but it was easy to pickup and walk around.

Race day: Since the full marathon started at 7am, there is no public transit running yet, so I used Uber to get to the race site. No issues and it cost me $16 (tip included). Lots of porta potties to use (no wait) and bag check in was easy.

The course: Very hilly course! There is a big hill around mile 6 (about 170 ft climb), then you descend for most of the first half. The second half is mostly a lot of out and back section where there is a hill climb of about 160 ft around mile 16, then you go down and run along the Anacostia River before heading back up the hill at mile 21-22. You descend after that and you had about 2 miles to the finish.

There is good race support and music along the course, but not a lot of spectators.

The finish line is good. Not a long walk afterwards and lots of snacks and drinks when you finish. Bag pickup was quick and I took the Metro subway and bus back to Virginia.

Overall I enjoyed the race. Most of the attractions are in the first half of the race. You'll see the Capitol, Washington and Lincoln Memorials along the highlights. The second half is less scenic but nice. This race is a good option if you can't do Marine Corp Marathon. Hope this review helps!
