For my 11th marathon, I decided to be a pace leader for the 4:00 hour pace group.
Weather for this race was little on the cold side and light rain until the start time of 7 am.
The race starts of going through Fayetville with some nice rolling hills and decent scenery of the town.
Both races, half and full start together and stay for 10 miles.
A few miles in the course hits the all american way which is a small highway. Scenery at this point is non-existent but the course stays fairly flat for these few miles.
After miles 10, the half enters the finishing stretch while the full runner take a left and run around Fort Bragg for the remainder of the race.
They have built in crowd support with soldiers stationed every 1/4 to 1/2 a mile.
There are several more challenging hills but most gradual up and down.
The final stretch of 1/2 mile has a little more crowd support.
Pretty cool getting metaled by soldiers in full fatigues.

The HS Half is just an all around great race put on by local runner in town.
From beginning to end this race has it all.
Free bib transfers, easy and casual packet pickup and best friendly race.
The race runs through several parks in town and a 1-2 mile stretch of mulch around the beautiful Bass Lake.
After the race, free pancake breakfast and a local craft beer (runner's high) brewed exclusively each year for the race.
