There's something so special about an all-female race. This was the first one I've done, and it's so much fun to see all the ladies out there doing their thing! I really enjoyed the course, but there's a giant hill that is not shaded, so be aware of that. Once you get to the top, the views of the Flatirons only get better. Parking was super easy and convenient, especially because I started the race on my own, and my husband and mom both met me at the finish line, and no one had issues parking at the RTD station lot. Race communication was great, and I loved the shirt and medal.

This was my third time running the Colfax Half and it has become one of my favorite races! The parking situation is not ideal, the marathon starts about 30-45 minutes before the half I believe so most of the available parking spots are taken by the time half runners arrive. There is parking around the zoo and the museum, but I would suggest getting there extra early in order to get a decent spot and not have to park far away from the start. The course begins with a loop around Denver's City Park (one of my favorite places to run) and then heads up a hill and into the zoo. Make sure to have your cameras out (but move to the side if you want a selfie with an elephant)! The course then goes east down residential streets to the fire station. You actually run through the fire station and high-five the firefighters cheering. Then you run back down Colfax, which is not the most scenic until you get to the fire trucks with their ladders up holding a gigantic flag over the street. That makes it all worth it! The course ends with a slight downhill, and then you finish in the park. There are lots of spectators the closer you get to City Park, which helps give an extra boost of energy for the last mile or two. Added bonus: the firefighters from the calendar are there 'modeling' and giving out high-fives.
