In 2016 I ran this full marathon as a training run and in 2017 my friend and neighbor ran the half in costume - as Thing 1 & Thing 2. It was a beautiful, cold morning and we literally had the best time running a race that we've ever had. We made friends on course who we still have today and gather often at races for plenty of entertainment. The course is beautiful and Big Blue does a great job of putting this, and other races, on in our amazing community.

I ran this race in 2016 and again in 2017. It starts and finishes in Squaw Valley (near Lake Tahoe, CA). The course is primarily on a paved bike path and along the Truckee River. You're in the mountains, running along a river and it's beautiful! The course also provides a great opportunity to PR for your half marathon time if you're used to running at elevation. Relatively speaking, it's a pretty flat course (or at least as flat as you're going to get running up here). I'd highly recommend this race as it's one of my favorite local road races.
