The race course was fine and it was nice to do a 5 mile race.

The bib pick up the morning of the race was a mess. Allegedly, the Wi-Fi was down forcing a shift to paper - stuff happens, right? The issue was that there was no one organizing the lines in the tent, resulting in lots of confusion and frustration, a delayed race start, water stations not being set up, delayed road openings, etc.

The next day, the Race Director sent an email titled "Mea Culpa" that began with an apology but ended with comments that anyone who was upset about the bib pickup was disgusting and should never sign up for one of his races again.

I responded that the race director should not be attacking his customers. I reminded him that it was less expensive for him to retain current customers than recruit new ones. His response was vile.

I learned yesterday that the race director had disqualified me and several other people who gave his race negative reviews.

I paid for the race. I completed the race. I was recognized as a finisher of the race. But now I am listed as Disqualified because I gave the race director a negative review.

Disqualified makes it look like I cheated. Disqualified makes it look like I didn't finish. I didn't cheat. I finished a 5 miler in 49:30. But a race director has disqualified me because I dared to recommend improvements and a change in his attitude.

I won't give another cent to a race director who has such contempt for the running community. I will continue to support the BAA races, the Falmouth Road Race and the Cambridge 5k/Half Marathon race directors. But I will not support this race director or his poorly organized events.
