"Slightly better than average race, but poorly run. Sad, as it has potential to be exceptional."

Summary - nice, relatively flat course with mild rolling grade on the outbound leg for standard pricing. Doubtful that I will return especially when Columbus Marathon is significantly better, same time of year and nearby. Unlikely that I will return.

Water stations sufficient. Course is a good one with two exceptions. Running the zig-zag around downtown slowed pace, increasing the congestion created by unenforced Corrals. Lots of loose asphalt gravel which could have easily been remedied with street cleaners the night before.

Staff was nice, but did keep commitments. Promised a bib#. In spite of early request and follow-ups, "I forgot". Confirmed Coral A reserved for elites and fast runners, but not the case. Was painful running around slow runners including some 50 year old ladies who thought nothing of it. In sufficient traffic control as police support was thin to the point cars were turning in front of runners on Fall Creek. Port-o-cans were few relative to the race size, which caused lines, which slowed times, which had some runners using yards.

Expo was not much. In short, it is not a bad race, but not that good of race. Post race is average. If I ever run it again, it will be purely for time and from the very front at the start.

The race is consistently well done as is each race in the series. Ran several races in the Series over the years. They hold raffles during the awards and give away $100 several times. If I had a request to improve, replace the Beer Glass award with a plaque or trophy. Regardless, I always look to return.

Exceptionally well-run and delivered. Improves every year! Run the half a few times and the marathon once. Always look to return given the fast course, fall leaves in color, typical good weather and a city that takes pride in supporting the race. Crowd support is larger than many races including all in the area with the exception of Flying Pig, which may be slightly larger. Water, port-o-cans and traffic control are second to none! If there is a negative, it is the medical tent. Woefully unprepared to handle extreme cases as if you need more than minor attention and are transported here, you re-board the ambulance and head to the hospital. They were not even prepared to provide a saline IV for severe dehydration.

Expo is fairly large for this size race and parking can be a bit difficult especially if the race falls on the weekend for a home Ohio State football game. Lodging and food in this midwest city is very good as well as affordable.

Registration for this race is not cheap and it under delivers. Good news is the fast, flat course. Sad news, males are not part of the fun. Asked several people in Lifetime Run and management (they own the race) why they do not hold a Men's equivalent race. Got a host of contradictory answers as well as politically correct bunk.

The expo is a joke. The race starts at 10 and requires an hour drive from Canada hotels or the runner can stay in Buffalo near the start, however, staying in Buffalo requires the runner to find transportation back to Buffalo. The race did not start on time and no explanation why. There was little post race for the runner unless they wanted to buy shirts or pay extra to attend a party. btw, the shirts do not have the year and are the same as those offered on-line. Although the course is flat and pretty, winds this time of year tend to come from the NW = headwind the entire way. Make sure you take your passport as the little red ink star provided by Canadian security is insufficient for US Customs. Wish the race directorship would have been clear and more forthcoming.
