I have run the half marathon multiple times but due to an injury downgraded to the 10k this year but was so glad I did! The 10k course was beautiful and a blast. Very well organized, clear course monitoring, nice volunteers and Stephanie Davies was a fun starting line announcer and Tony Nguyen a great finish line announcer, meaning I had great announcers from start to finish. Highly recommend!

I ran with a friend in the 15 minute per mile group. I don’t normally run that far back but it was such a blast! Loved the energy of volunteers at the aid stations even that far back. Sometimes in races the back of the pack gets neglected but not here! Great course and scenery. Great swag and hot chocolate and fondue at the end. Will be back!

I went into this race uncertain of my ability to make the official 6 hour cutoff, but was assured by many that they had exceeded that time and all had gone well for them. As a new marathon runner (this was my 2nd), I felt I got the same treatment as the most elite finisher. That made me feel so valued as a runner.
The energy at this event is like nothing else I’ve experienced. Everyone was so supportive the entire weekend from the first day of the expo, to the moment I crossed the finish line.

The expo was well run with plenty of people to answer questions, give advice and talk about the event with. Great variety in expo booths.

The course itself was challenging but well supported with aid stations. Even as a slow finisher (6:41), only one aid station had been torn down by the time I got to it. I was pleasantly surprised that the finish line was still up when I got there.
All in all, I definitely intend to go back in the future. Great event, swag and energy of runners.

As a SR resident, it made sense to register for the event because I run that area quite frequently. I ran the marathon in 2016 so went for the half in 2017.

In 2017, I found that the price for the half to be very costly which is a deterrent. I was fortunate to luck out on a discount but the event is rather pricey.

I love the expo at Deloach and think it’s a nice size and fun event.

The weather in 2017 was a nightmare. It was so hot and I know many runners opted out. I think there could have been more support in terms of aid stations and water because of the extreme weather conditions.

The course is so beautiful but I found myself getting frustrated at the end with the narrow path. It was tough because many of the marathon runners were squeezing in the same time as the half, and it got narrow and a tight squeeze between the 3:30-4 hour marathon runners and the 2:30-3 hour half marathon runners, which was a decent amount of people.

Great swag and fun. Good size event. The move to the new courthouse square was a great way to have post race celebration

I ran the second half and it was my first time participating in the event. I liked the size of the race because as a slower runner it was nice to always have people around. Parking was a pain because I did the instructions from the race to buy a spot ahead of time but the street my garage was in was blocked off which made me anxious before the race to be late. I wish there had been more signage to find the shuttles and the volunteers I asked were clueless. I heard there was food after the race but I didn’t find it (but in their defense, I didn’t look that hard and just got in the car to go home). All in all a good race. Will do the first half in 2018.
