This was my first Revel race and I go to Tucson for races fairly often, so I was glad they introduced this event. It's a PR course (because of the downhill) and I came with seconds of my PR from almost 8 years ago. At the age of 56, I'll take it! The start is near a picnic area so hopefully they'll have campfires going there next time, because it's pretty chilly while waiting after being bused up there. Very well organized, especially for an inaugural race, but I hoped as much since they have other races around the West. Beer at the finish and something other than pizza for some protein would be good. I may return next year.

The listing for this is much too narrow-there's actually a weekend of races including the 5k. On Friday night of Memorial Day weekend, there is a Festival of Miles. You can race in one or multiple categories. For example, because I'm a masters runner, I could have entered the Men's Masters Mile race, which was the RRCA National Championship this year. That was at 6:00 p.m. and it was blazing hot so I'm glad I didn't. I ran in the Tutu Mile race, which was a blast! You can run as many mile races as you qualify for with one cheap registration. There's a beer garden where you can enjoy your complimentary beer. Lots of families come to the events and the 5k is on Saturday night.

This was my 4th consecutive St. George, and I was injured, so I don't want to focus on how the race that year went. At least I finished-never had a DNF in 30 marathons and an ultra! Two years earlier, it was my PR marathon. My first year I got to meet Bart Yasso, who also ran it that year. The marathon is very well organized and support from the town always blows me away! There's no half if you're looking for that but you probably already knew that.
