Great little 5k taking place at Gaelic Park down in Oak Forest, IL. Whole race takes place on gravel road or grass. Brings out lots of walkers/mid-pack runners. Fun experience running on grass, serves as a good end of season "spin the wheels" type race. After the race the potato soup and Irish beer is tasty. Great community atmosphere. 4 stars because it's not very big in terms of runners, yet, but has a nice homey type feel and is well produced.

The holiday lights throughout the course were a really nice touch. The 5k is all for charity, so some slack is deserved in the race management area, however the race started late and no one could find the start-line to begin with. The course was all road, through Mooseheart campus, good theme and fun, just some tweaks are needed as the race grows. No aid station, but personally don't need one for a 5k. Others might. NOT a competitive race, do this one for fun and pure holiday enjoyment.

It is what it is, a community Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. Don't go into this race looking to PR, crush the competition or see where you stack up in the running community. If you want to race this, you NEED to be in the first line at the very front, anywhere else and you're bound to run into dogs on leashes, walkers, joy riders, etc. The corrals are not organized at all. However, again, this race is more of a community parade. The money goes to various food pantries in the area. So for what it is, it's great. 4-stars is very generous if you're looking to run a true "race." Use Elmhurst's 4 on the 4th in July for competition.
