There was a reason the Wright Brothers chose Kitty Hawk to fly a plane, lots and lots of wind!! The day of the race it was calm and the weather was perfect, however, the day before the wind was whipping and it was really cold. So, if you hate the wind you may want to chose a different race.
The course was very pretty with both trail and road running. The aid stations were great and there were plenty of potties. The hotels were reasonable and getting to and from the race was a breeze.

I run this race every year, and each year it gets better and better! It is a little hilly, but there is great cheer support and the scenery is amazing. The post race party includes free samples of several different bourbons. This year they added free etching to the finisher bottles (purchased separately) of Jim Beam! I will definitely be back next year.
