Well organized full marathon! This was about my 25th or so full marathon and I thought the RD and city were very welcoming and friendly! I liked the fact that the race course was in both the US & Canada and we got to run over the bridge. It started the upward gradual eleveation change just over a mile into the race and when up the ramp and onto the bridge. The 1 mile underground tunnel portion back to the US was on the warm side but it made for another interesting portion of the course. The crowd support was pretty good for a race that didn't have a lot of landmarks. 1 or 2 of the water stops were struggling to keep up with the full runners that passed through but other than that, they had plenty of water & Gatorade/Powerade. The city took a lot of pride in the race when I encountered locals outside of the expo. As far as expos go, they did a fantastic job of having lots of booths & runner gear for sale there. Corrals were well organized and I felt very safe with the security at the start/finish area before and after the race. The volunteers were helpful and enthusiastic. I would have preferred a less windy race but unfortunately that's always beyond anyone's control! Great job Detroit!!
