I have run 13 races in the past year, halfs and fulls, and the White Lightning half in Pikeville Kentucky was by far my favorite! The scenery was amazing. The little town of Pikeville was having a festival with live music downtown and a car show the night before the race. It was my first trail half and there was a giant hill that kicked my butt. It went on for about 2 miles around mile 8 with a sharp ascent near the end. I ended up crawling up some of it because it was so steep. The terrain was moderately technical with mud, stream beds, water up to 3.5~ish foot deep, rocks of varying sizes, and hills. It was so beautiful and totally worth it! Tons of food after from a local caterer. Funny theme. Cool unique medal. Highly recommended!!
