There are a couple of issues with this race but first & foremost is the blatant inaccuracy. I found this marathon by looking at runningintheusa.com, trying to find a fall marathon that was cheaper than Chicago but still close by. At $70, this race was a bargain but lesson learned: you get what you pay for. First off, the site description says "The event will be chip timed for fast and accurate results." This is completely false. There was no clear starting line (we started in a group on a sidewalk in the park), there were no chips, and definitely no RFID mats along the course. Not only that but the course was so poorly marked that a couple of participants (myself included) got lost along the route. Don't expect road closures, spectators, nor people manning all of the aid stations. I'm also bothered by the fact that this race tries to trick boston hopefuls into running with the description: "This Boston Qualifying course is held on the streets of Miller Beach area." How can you validate that a runner did qualify for boston without accurate course mapping/timing mats? Additionally, the course map was the race director's "MapMyRun" route with pencilled-in markers for the aid station. We didn't receive until a day or two before the race and bib information/packet pickup wasn't shared until a day or two in advance. I appreciate the fact that this one man is trying to set up a race for people in the fall for a fair price, but I do not recommend that anyone runs this race until they figure out the logistics unless you don't care about accurate results. It would be a great training run though!
