This race is stunning! Runners circle 'big' Glen Lake for the race. That means there is an insane hill at mile 8 that takes a lot of energy. However, at the top is a view called "Inspiration Point," which makes the effort worthwhile. After the top of the hill, there is a long, slow downhill for about 1 mile. This is the greatest mile of all time. Around mile 11.5-12, runners cross "The Narrows," which is the bridge that is above the connecting point of Big and Little Glen Lake. To your left you see the famous Dune Climb of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. This race is absolutely breathtaking (literally and figuratively). One of the best half marathons I've ever done.

This is a wonderful winter race held in Elberta and Frankfort, Michigan. It starts at the top of a hill, overlooking Lake Michigan. Runners then descend the hill and follow a flat road the rest of the course. Runners finish in 'downtown' Frankfort. After the race is the awards ceremony and an amazing raffle. So many local establishments donate to this race that almost every runner receives a raffle prize. I love this race! I'll definitely do it again.

The Charlevoix Marathon is absolutely stunning! It is largely flat, but does have one fairly intense hill towards the beginning and end (it is an out and back course). For about 90% of the race, you run along a cement path on the shores of Lake Michigan. This is a pretty small race. At times I could not see anyone in front of me or behind me. The aid stations were all great and the volunteers are extremely enthusiastic. It is a very well-organized race. The swag I received in 2014 was a long-sleeved half-zip pullover shirt. Very cool! I will definitely run this race again in the future!
