It was the 1st year that the local YMCA ran the event in conjunction with a large week long party sponsored by the city. The course was relatively flat and was on the road and trails around Council Bluffs. The Aid stations were competing for a cash prize and were very energetic and motivational. Parking was pretty easy if you got there early and the post race had free beer which is always a plus. The awards ceremony was pretty nice and gave the winners there little spotlight time. They also had activities for the kids waiting for runners to keep them active and not bored to death. The finish also featured a local high cheer squad cheering everyone into the finish. The course was out and back so you could see all the runners which some people like and others don't. But since I was just doing it more as a training event it was fun to cheer everyone on as they passed. If you are in the area in May you should give it a try.

" A must for a great Thanksgiving day run"

Great race and course. Single trail at times with beautiful scenery. Supports a great cause with awesome community support. A must on Thanksgiving. Offers shorter distances for those more worried about getting home to the food. Swag includes a nice long sleeve shirt and mug instant of the normal medal. Has many "very good" runners for those who want a challenge.
