This was probably my favorite race to date. The experience was overall fun and it definitely got me in the spirit of the holiday season. They have a 5k and 10k option. I opted to run in the 5k. I decided to pick my packet up the morning of the race. I registered late and that was my only option. Packet pick up was from 6am-8am the morning of the race. Parking was much easier than I expected. I got downtown around 7:30am and there were plenty of spots available. The lot I parked in was free. Picking up my packet was also easy and fast. I waited in line no more than 10 minutes. They had an abundance of volunteers answering questions and directing people making navigating within the sea of people less confusing. Knowing that this was a novalty run I wasn't chasing a PR. I knew that this run attracts thousands of people and there would be people running in costumes and with their children so I was forced to slow down several times during the route. This was not upsetting to me at all because I got some awesome pictures of really cool costumes! The atmosphere at the start line was great and continued all the way to the finish. They also had pace teams avaliable which I greatly appreciated. After I finished I received a (heavy) participation medal with the date of the race engraved on the back. Water and snacks were also avaliable. Along with the medal we also received admission into A Christmas Story House. That was fun considering I had never been inside before. Shuttles took the runners back to downtown where we had started the race. I did wait in line for around 20 minutes for a shuttle but considering the amount of people who participated in the run I completly understood the wait. Overall, I couldn't recommend this race enough. Fun, well organized, and entertaining. I will be running this race again next year!

I completed the Hoover hustle in 2015. This was my first 10k experience and at the time, was only my 4th race. This was a beautiful course along the Hoover dam. The starting point was on a blocked off part of the street so for the first half mile or so we were running down the road but eventually came to a paved path that lead to the dam. The weather was a bit overcast in the beginning with the temp being near 65. The 5k turn around point was along the path in front of the dam but the 10k and 10 mile people ran all the way to the back parking lot near the top of the dam which was the turn around point. This meant that we got to tackle the extremely long uphill road that lead to the turn around point and water station. This was probably the most difficult hill I've had to overcome during a race even to this day. I think they had an adequate amount of volunteers and good organization. However, the reason why I didn't give this race five stars is because part of the route was along a very busy road behind the dam where there were no sidewalks and only small orange cones to somewhat direct you where to run. I remember coming nerve wrackingly close to a car who was turning the corner much too fast. At the time I remember thinking that there wasn't even enough room to pass another person unless you wanted to be in the direct path of cars. Other than this, what I would consider, a moderate safety concern It was a good race.
