Racing a 5km race in November was a new experience for me as I don't like the cold .... Yes Canada here.

We got to the parking area after being stuck in some 30 min delay traffic like 2 hours before the 5km race start , but we had plenty of time. Because taking exit off highway for Bromont.

Bus shuttles for the parking area about 10 minutes from race site , on time and things were mooving quite fast.

There was a 20$ shuttle from Montreal to Bromont for those interested . Really nice organisation.

Race pickup ( in boutique course et cie in Granby ) was a cinch and quick ! Both my brother and I had picked up our bibs a few days before the race and this was very well organized .

We had indoor lockers to change before race with washrooms and we could stay warm before the race . It was 2 degrees Celsius when we arrived at 7:30. The organizers also planned child care area ( for 10$ fee) where kids could play safely and with people making sure they are safe while the parents raced their race.

This was my first race since surgery so I wasn't going for a PR but more making sure my body was getting back at the running mode without problems.

My brother was more going for the PR. He is a sub 25 minutes 5km guy.

Race scenery : hills , some flat parts and a mega hill where even the guy opening the race on his bike had to get off the bike to walk up the hill.

Yes the water - Gatorade for 2.5km stand were at the top of the hill. Funny and refreshing.

Finish line was crowded as 30km runners , half marathoners , 10km and 5km people seemed to all arrive at once. They need to work on that part a bit.

Les courses Gourmandes theme races always have nice meal after the race with local products on display which is fantastic. The meal was small bowl of chili , bread , small cheese stick and beer or wine. The bowl of chili was small and I bet 30km runners asked for 2 or 3 ....

Overall 4 out of -5 stars for the ambiance , themed race and participants organizers / volunteers who always add to the ambiance .

The Tour du lac Brome race is one of my favorite races and one of the oldest in the province of Quebec.

In 2016 it was the 36th edition of the race and it was a HOT one!

This race is in one the well know picturesque town of Lac Brome in the eastern Townships in Qc.

The race starts at the Lions Park and offers on site 200 feet huge parking for the racers to park before the race. As for most races in the province you can pick up your bib 1 or 2 days ahead of time in different locations .

The show exhibitors are always interesting and the after the race you can devour the duck meal which is included and offered by Canards du Lac Brome and and beer from Farnham Ale & Lager.
Yes the famous duck of Brome Lac.

Like I said the 2016 5km race was very well organized and it was hot day 30 Celsius before the race and they managed the heat with tons of water, Gatorade and water hosing station. They even offered runners cold water soaked towels at the end of the race with water bottles.

Course has flat and hills a and a surprise hill in the town for the 5km and it's well managed as Police stop the traffic for the racers of the 5km. Lot's of volunteers to show the way throughout the race.

Yes there is a band at the arrival of the race and the ambiance is great as they announce your name when the finish line.

Overall awesome race. There is a lady who has done each year the 20km of the Tour du lac Brome and everyone knows her here.

The DMG race or Demi Marathon de Granby , Qc was he 8th year event in 2014.

It is in the prime season of autumn foliage in the Eastern townships which makes it fantastic scenery.

The organization is top notch and the race offers distances for all racers , kids 1km , 2km , 5km ,10 km and half marathon.

You can pick up your bib the day before which helps everyone relax before the official race on race day.

There s a big parking parking at the zoo which is nearby and bus shuttles with bring the runners to the event in no time.

There is the chalet of the skaters where runners can change and bathrooms and where they can leave their bags as they are all checked and secure.

Plenty of outside chemical toilets for runners , no wait time and ti's true.

Race organization and volunteers are pretty involved and cheering is guaranteed.

The runners who choose the 10k or 21 km get to run aaround the Boivin Lake and the view is awesome.

The race price includes technical shirt , race , and a great pasta meal after and beer or wine and a great band playing for you.

Next race is October 1st 2017 , don't miss it : http://www.dmg.ca/dmg%205km.html
