I never know if it is cool to wear a race shirt during the actual race. I was pretty happy to see about half of the racers sporting their fresh digi camo shirts.

Busse Woods is beautiful. I didn't end up seeing any elk, but apparently they are hidden in there somewhere. The sunrise over the water, the cool breeze, and amazing temps made this a perfect race day (although I do enjoy a torrential downpour every once and a while.)

I really appreciate the race boss people not skimping out on post race snacks. They had FULL BANANAS. Not the usual nasty banana sliced into three pieces. I also had a choice between several gatorade flavors. Its the little things...

I ran the 5K. The course was very flat, with one small hill. It was an out and back, and everyone was high five-ing each other as they started running opposite directions at the turnaround.

I hope to race again with Volition. Next time I'll run the half, and I will be wearing more red, white, blue.
