This is one of my favorite half marathons in San Diego. I've run it the past two years-- 2016 brought a course change, which I liked. The views along the harbor are beautiful!

Expo-- The expo happens on a pier in a busy area of San Diego, with limited hours on the Friday. Getting your bib and shirt are relatively easy. I like the booths at the expo, but find the area to be a bit cramped. I get there when they open, but as it starts to get busier, it is definitely hard to get around and see everything.

Race Morning-- this race always happens on the weekend of Daylight Savings Time, so be prepared to lose an hour of sleep on race morning!

Race Morning Parking-- Like most races that take place in this part of San Diego, there is plenty of parking available if you don't mind paying for parking. (there are free areas available, but you'll be walking a bit to the start line) I paid $15 for parking this year.

Start Line-- The start line was part of the course change this year and it was a bit confusing. The portapotties were set-up weird and the lines fed into the corrals. This made the corrals a bit disorganized and they weren't really enforced.

Course-- This is my favorite course in San Diego. Miles 8-10 are uphill, but it's a downhill finish, which I love. There is ample crowd support and great views.

Aid Stations-- There were plenty of aid stations this year. My one complaint was the plastic cups-- they were harder to drink from as you're running and harder to get through when you were running out of the aid stations.

Swag-- I love the medal for this race-- it's always a beauty. The shirts are nice-- this year the women's shirt had a lavender trim which I like. This race also recognizes multi year runners, so I had a 2-star legacy label on my shirt sleeve. You also get a free ticket to the USS Midway museum in San Diego with your race entry--- even though I live in SD, I had never been there and enjoyed this perk this year!
