This race came highly recommended and I was not disappointed, part of that of course, was the luck of the weather draw! It was a great morning to run, not to cold or hot, minimal wind and importantly for the West Coast no rain! I appreciated that the run started at a slightly later (and odd http://www.foolsrun.com/history/hist1978.htm#tiredfeet) time which meant that it was possible to catch the first ferry of the morning over to the Coast, instead of having to spend the night and extra money to go the night before. The run itself was small in numbers, under 500, which gave it a nice relaxed community feel. A feeling that was aided by the cheering sections, and spectators that lined the course from essentially start to finish. Further the cheaper price in lieu of a shirt made this race a great race to do for runners who have completed multiple races and no longer have enough room to house all their race shirts.

The course was rolling, it had some challenging hills and good downhill sections, essentially enough to keep you paying attention and not let you settle into a rut. Even though it was on the highway you are surrounded by trees and get the occasional glimpse of the ocean making it a beautiful course. The finish line at Davis Bay is perfect.

If I could change one thing about this race it would be the water at the end. The tiny dixie cups for the water were not enough to hydrate me after the run and I felt like a ridiculous comedy sketch standing there refilling and guzzling water from the jug.
