So I do not usually write reviews about races, but I just wanted to say how amazing Charleston Marathon was this past weekend. The course was flat, fast, well marked and a nice small first event. There were only maybe 1500 marathoners and 3000 half marathoners total. On the course you were with the half marathoners for first 9-10 miles and then you split off. It was pretty scenic when running through downtown and along the shore. There were certainly some pretty boring (business district parts), but not too bad. There were plenty of water/aid/GU stations throughout the course and the swag was great. A nice dri-fit long sleeve, bag, and one of a kind medal that was designed for this race. I have done 6 marathons now and would HIGHLY recommend this race for anyone looking to finish their first marathon or get a Boston Qualifier. The best part, this race never sells out because it is still new and so small. My husband and I booked our hotel 4 days before the race and we were 3/4 of a mile from the start. I walked to the starting line maybe 30 minutes before the race. Overall, I would say this was an excellent race, even without the PR I ran!
