There wasn't much of an expo, just pick up your bib and shirt at the running store. The morning of the race was not very organized. The race started 30 minutes late and the runners weren't really given a reason why. The race was a very small field (around 500 people) but they managed to run out of water before the middle of the pack got to the first water stop. The second stop didn't even have a person or water there, just an empty table. The third water table had one volunteer that was very stingy with the water and had an attitude when someone tried to grab two cups. The website said that each water stop would have both water and electrolyte drink, but that didn't happen. The website also said that there was no time limit, but when I crossed the finish line, I was hearing people talking about how they were pulled off the course. The only positives that I have to say about this event are that the course was nice and they had a great medal for the finishers.

This race weekend is honestly one of my favorite race weekends that I've ever been involved in. The race directors are great people. I really love that they can be seen walking around the expo, the races and the post parties and they ask people how they are and what they think of the entire weekend. The expo is very organized and they have a large variety of vendors. The races are very organized and well marked. The crowd support all along the half marathon course is beyond amazing.

The inaugural Harbor Lights half marathon was overall a great weekend. The expo was on the very small side compared to other J&A events. I'm definitely not a fan of having to pay to park in a garage just to go pick up my bib, but that's not the race director's fault. The pre-race instructions were very informative with road closures and garages that would be open early during the race weekend for parking. The race itself was great, you got to see parts of Norfolk that you don't normally see if you don't live there. There was a few spots along the course where it got narrow when people ran on the sidewalks instead of the cobblestone street, hopefully that is one of the new changes they made for the 2015 course. As always, you crossed the finish line and left with your hands full of all sorts of snacks and swag. The post race beer was great and the food was nice and warm. I'm definitely looking forward to running this race again.

Yet another great race weekend put on by J&A. The expo was small, but packed in some great vendors. I loved the finishers medals for the events, especially the extra medal for completing the Shell Yeah challenge. The race was very organized, the course was flat and fast with the exception of one overpass that you go over at the beginning and right before the finish. The post race party was great. They had a craft brew festival and a great band playing.
