the Moonlight Madness half marathon and 10k was a terrible race. First off it was postponed to this weekend due to flooring in Dallas 2 weeks ago which might be the reason for this poor course. Day of run.. It was raining on and off all day. At 7:45pm they postponed the race to 8:15pm because of the rain (no thunder or lightening) there was no waves or different start times for half-ers and 10k-ers. We just all took off at once. The first mile was just a small loop through unfinished roads the widen and narrowed due to construction zones. At mile 3 we parted from the 10k-ers. We crossed the river then just ran along the river for the rest of the run where we doubled back EVER MILE WE DID. Not sure about Yall but I don't usually like doubling back in races that many times. It's one thing it its out and back but the was out and back 5 different times. Makes it feel that much longer. At mile 7 we dipped down to the same level as the river and ran through shin deep water for about .1 of a mile.. And of course since we double back every mile we had to go back through it. The paths weren't that wide so you have to run single file pretty much the whole time until we came to overpasses.. mile 11 was ran down the street a block over from the finish (which was the same street we did mile 1 on) where again we had to double back, go over one block, and go up the parallel street we just ran to the finish.. The only plus is it ended at the brewery. The brewery employees where great! But the race volunteers where terrible.. Just sitting around. The volunteers at water stations were very encouraging though. No maps of the course were present online or to hand out for spectators so there was no one on the course cheering. There was water stations every 4-5 miles. At first I thought it was just me griping about the course when I finished cause I DID NOT do well. My piriformis tightened up at mile 9 and was just in pain the rest of the way. But when I finished and was talking to my sister about the course 4 other ppl chimed in and agreed with me. Then when I was claiming my much deserved beer.. 5 other ladies in line where commenting how terrible it was..

Probably will never do this race again.. Just a heads up if anyone sees this race pop up and was interested in doing it..

This was a Mellew event.
