I'm slowly making my way around the Outrace (formerly OUSER) scene and was a first time runner at the Dirty Girls Ultra on Sat July 25, 2015. It's somewhat odd telling people that you're running the 32k race and that it's the shortest run they have, as the other options are timed events (6hr, 12hr day, 12hr night, and 24hr). They apparently ran a 48hr race a few times but that sounds beyond psychotic for me!

From the moment I arrived to the moment I left I certainly felt the "summer camp vibe" they advertise on their website. The Mansfield Outdoor Centre is a great location for a trail event, especially as you could park your car and set up your tent right along the start/finish chute to refuel - or if you're running one of the timed events - have a nap! The trail itself is an 8k loop that for me I did 4 times. I certainly didn't have a problem running the same loop as the scenery was lovely, and seeing as I tripped twice in the same spot, obviously challenging!

The aid stations and start/finish were very organized and welcoming, with all volunteers doing the little things like topping up water bottles, providing ice if needed, and just having the 'ultra smile' that keeps runners of all distances going.

I would certainly recommend this race. Great experience, great trail, and oh yeah, I was pretty happy with my overall run! For a more personalized race report see www.runthistrail.weebly.com later this week!
