From packet pick-up to receiving the medals and available snacks after the race, the run was very well organized. I was concerned about the split from the half marathoners not being clear, but the race organizers had people pointing the 10K runner in the right direction. The only point of confusion occurred at the underpass where the water main broke. Some people were running over and across LSD, others going through the flooded underpass, and others running up to the street underpass. Since I was completing this race for eligibility timing, the added distance from the flooded underpass was not ideal. Also, the pacers were off, which threw-off my timing. The were significantly slower than their posted times. The swag was not something I would usually wear to exercise in. I have attempted, but the sleeves don't stay pushed up if I get hot and the hood and drawstrings are fairly annoying when running. However, I overall enjoyed this run. It was nice to run by the lake and hear the sounds of the waves. The views of the city were beautiful.

Pros:
Running on Northwestern's campus, out on the lake fill, is always beautiful.
The race is located only a short distance from me.
The winter hat from the event is awesome.

Cons:
It was very cold and there was no where to go to be warm other than the car, so we left immediatley after the race.

I most likely will not be signing up for this race again unless there are significant changes made.

Pros:
This race supports a great cause, education. I was nice to see so many kids, parents, and educators participating.
The shirt is pretty cool, but not made from a tech material.

Cons:
The biggest downside of this race was that the roads were not closed. There were police helping at major intersections, but with so many kid running the race the roads need to be closed. I spent parts of my run stopping cars so kids could cross the smaller intersections.
Packet pick-up was a disaster. I live about 20 minutes from Highland Park where the packet pick-up was. I drove out there the first day of packet pick-up to be told that the website was wrong and that packet pick-up was not for another four days. I drove out the first "real" day of packet pick-up and was told that they had already run out of shirts, even though I had registered for the event well in advance. I was told to try again day of the race. Race day I was told I would receive an email about the shirts when they arrived. I finally was able to pick-up my shirt about a month after the race. By the time I had gotten the email, I had already forgotten about the shirt.
Also, the race is not timed.
Overall, I expected more form a race in Glencoe.

My husband and I ran this race together. It was cool running through the zoo, but it requires a lot of turns. At the start of the race, despite announcements, walkers started in front of the runners. It was annoying to pay for a run and then spend the first mile or so dodging walkers and strollers (someone even had a three wide stroller with them). My last mile was spent dodging spectators and those who had finished the race before me and were on the course looking at the animals. Once we completed the race, a lot of the animals were not out to view. It was really disappointing that there were a lack of animals. In addition, none of the zoo amenities were open, so no post race coffee or anything. When compared with the Lincoln Park Zoo Run, it was hard to justify the extra cost and driving.
