Well, I am a glutton for punishment. Had to run 13 miles that morning so I ran the Hot Chocolate 5k and the 15k. It was cold (20 degrees) and snowing. Wind was blowing a bit, just enough to keep you moving to stay warm. Having just finished the 5k and placing in my age group, I had time enough to change clothes before lining up for the 15k. The wave start was a good idea even though there were not that many participants for this inaugural event. The time between corral starts just makes for a very cold wait in these conditions. Hard to stay warmed up. The first thing you do is go up the hill I just tackled in the 5k. Then an uphill battle up Broadway to Centennial Park. The course change had us running through the Park, which was nice, and up and over a bridge just to turn around and do it again. The final stretch was downhill and fast.

Since I did the 5k, I wasn't really pushing it and still had a great time. The hot chocolate afterwards was a bit thick and the fondue was cooling way to fast in that temperature. But overall, it was a good race and very challenging.

It was a cold snowy morning in Nashville. 20 degrees and flakes falling from the sky. The race took place downtown Nashville starting at the Farmers Market/Bicentennial Mall. The course was flat for the first two miles, then took a turn up a .25 mile hill that had a good 100 foot climb. You then got to go down the hill and into the finish. The "medal" was a plastic cup with dividers to hold the chocolate fondue, banana and cookies. Hot chocolate was served afterwards as well.

Overall, it was a good race for an inaugural event. The best part was the "gift bag". A hooded sweatshirt with the Hot Chocolate race logo.
