This was my second year running the Bedford Half Marathon. This is such a great event for a small town. It is very well managed and provides a challenging course to race.

I used this race in my marathon training cycle this fall. I went out much slower than last year and tried to pick up the pace in the middle. I couldn't quite get comfortable with my pace, but I beat last year's time by roughly 2 minutes. This is perfect course for a marathon of equal or less elevation change.

I highly recommend this race to anyone in or near southern Indiana. It makes a great training race or goal race on a challenging course.

Big time race feel in a small town. I am partial to this race as it was in my hometown. The organization of the race and expo exceeded my expectations for a first year race. The course is challenging and the most hilly course I have ever raced on, though it's not like running in the mountains. This was such a cool race because I knew many of the volunteers and had constant crowd support throughout. This year the race fell on the same day as the local Lion's club pancake fundraiser, which was a perfect post-race meal. I would recommend this race to anyone who wants a moderately hilly course and nice race in small town! The community really embraced this event and is committed to making it successful.

I signed up for the 2014 Carmel Half Marathon mostly on a whim. I had a couple of friends doing the race and had been battling IT band issues from my winter training. I cannot comment on the expo because I had a friend pick up my packet. I was excited about the course because I had heard pretty good things about it. Starting and finishing at the Palladium made for an impressive backdrop. I had decided to not put everything on the line in the beginning of the race as I have in the past. I knew it wasn't going to be a PR day (1:29), so I started conservative. I was hitting 7:30 min/mile pace easily and was feeling good after 3 miles so I took the pace to a 7:15 and bounce between 7:00 and 7:15 the rest of the race. This was my first race that I had negative splits! This was a good race, there was plenty of crowd support and the aid stations were not too far apart. If you are looking for a good spring race, the Carmel half or full is a good option.
