Most amazing experience you can ever have, running (and walking) in the world's oldest and largest ultra marathon. This was definitely a tough course on a particularly tough day (high 20s Celsius) and there were people strewn all over the side of the course fighting heat exhaustion and cramps. The race this year was an 'up run', starting in Durban, and pretty much from the get-go, you're climbing. And climbing. And climbing. And when you're not climbing, you're running downhill, which only serves to shred your legs more. Entering the stadium to finish in Pietermaritzburg is something to behold, with the crowd support willing you on. I totally need to return for the 'down run', hopefully in 2018!
