My friends and I have done this race the last few years, honoring a friend's mother who passed away from breast cancer. Wish they would start the walkers after the runners (not speaking of corrals). Both 5k and 10k start together, and a little after the 2 mile marker is where the separation occurs -10k continues down lakefront to soldier field and back to finish near butler field. Easy peasy!

Weather this time of year is always hit or miss, but otherwise a great race that has similar course streets as the Chicago Marathon.

This is a decent fall Marathon for those in the area that ran the Chicago Marathon or didn't get in to it. For travelers, I would advise staying in a hotel downtown - very easy and convenient. Course takes you through neighborhoods which was kind of boring since there weren't many supporters out. Post-race had your basics plus Steak-n-Shake chili which sounds totally gross, but was perfect for the cold temps.

Yeah, I said it, I love this race. So many spectators and the course takes you through so many different neighborhoods, plus it's all flat except for 'Mount Roosevelt' at the end. Will definitely enter the lottery every year.

This race is located in the Southside so it's kind of a trek for Northsiders. I bought the shuttle ticket and arrived 2 hours before racetime, it threw everything off for me and I had to figure out how to use a porta-potty in the dark. Course is pretty flat, you run around Jackson Park then up and down LSD and finish back in the park. Every year I say it's my last time (because of the location) but it works well with the Chicago Marathon training schedule.
