At most races, the elite field takes off first, so the average runner only catches a glimpse of the professional athletes at the start of the race. But at the Carlsbad 5000, the elites start in the last wave. So runners of all ages and abilities have the opportunity to enjoy post-race festivities while cheering on the pros. Add to that spectator support, an insanely fun after-party, oh and did we mention frequent sightings of Meb Keflezighi, part owner of the race, and it’s no wonder that the Carlsbad 5000 is considered by many to be the best race day in SoCal.
